Nu-Star Electric Wheelbarrows set to save man hours at prestige London construction project
Tilley and Barrett demolition specialists, part of the Toureen Group, are working hard to clear the City Centre property.
Tilley and Barrett have been faced with a number of limitations when renovating the historical Grade II listed building to ensure the integrity is kept intact and no damage is made to the interior, this is when they got in touch with Nu-Star.
All of Nu-Stars’ machines are electric-powered resulting in no emissions or noise, perfect for indoor use and low environmental impact.
The MUV Electric Wheelbarrows help to manoeuvre the heavy loads across great distances. Not only is this more time-efficient than a traditional wheelbarrow, improving productivity on site; the barrows are configured to operate with no handlebar vibration, making them user-friendly.
The Health and Safety benefits of moving heavy loads with ease meant the workforce were extremely happy with the product.
Eddie McDaid, Operations Manager at Tilley & Barrett, states, ‘Initially we hired two of MUV Electric Wheelbarrows to trial the product and see the impact the barrows had on our tight schedule. We were able to rota our workforce into different areas of the project, as the product significantly reduced the man hours required. Our workforce were also much happier, as it eased the strain out of moving heavy loads through the miles of corridors and the powered-tip functionality made it easy to empty a full barrow at the discharge chute points. With great battery life we can use the mini-dumpers through-out the day shift and charge overnight resulting in no downtime. We were so impressed, we purchased a further two MUV Electric Wheelbarrows and hired another.’
Matt Smith, MD at Nu-Star says “More and more construction firms are approaching us for moving solutions to either hire or buy on large-scale building projects. Our MUV Electric Wheelbarrow is a versatile product, suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and it’s capable of moving loads up to 350kg over a distance of up to five miles. ”
